The TOEFL iBT® Athletic Excellence Grant (AEG) Program is delivered by ETS Global BV for the TOEFL® Program. The project will support student-athletes within Europe, the Middle East, and Africa who are on a journey to realize their athletic and academic potential by rewarding a total of FIVE student-athletes with a €5,000 grant for each recipient.
The TOEFL iBT® AEG is for undergraduate student-athletes who have been accepted and admitted into a sports athletic program starting between August 2023 and March 2024 at colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, and select universities in the European Union.
The TOEFL iBT® Athletic Excellence Grant represents the endless motivation, hard work and perseverance that drive excellence. As an emerging student athlete, you recognize the importance of pursuit and the power of education.

Why apply
ELIGIBILITY
To successfully apply for the TOEFL iBT® Athletic Excellence Grant Program you must:
At colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, and European Union (in colleges and universities that provide such athletic programs).
To complete the application form, you will need to provide:
If the university’s /college’s acceptance letter does not mention and/or does not prove the participation of the student in the athletic program, the applicant must additionally submit any official documents from the university or college which clearly state that he/ she is part of the athletic program and/or collegiate team of the university or college.
APPLICATION
Assessment and Selection of the Recipients of the Grant
* Eligibility and/or participation to the Program do NOT guarantee success.
In order to assess and compare the applications received, ETS Global will appoint an Assessment Committee that will assess the applications and the relevant supporting documentation submitted in order to select the five recipients of the grant.
The assessment and selection procedure will consist of a three-step process.
Step 1: Applications are initially assessed according to the applicants’ eligibility and the completeness of the supporting documentation.
Step 2: The motivation letters and the reference letters will be assessed. The motivation letter will be assessed based on the following evaluation criteria:
Step 3: A maximum of fifteen (15) applicants will be selected and will be invited to an online interview.
Based on these three steps, the Assessment Committee will select the five recipients of the grant. The selected recipients of the grant will be notified of the decision via email, by receiving a letter of acceptance/offer, which will be sent to their email addresses.

Do I have to submit an official TOEFL iBT score report?
YES, you must submit a copy of your official TOEFL iBT score report.
What university or college program do I have to be accepted into in order to be eligible for the grant?
Any higher education institution in the United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, andEuropean Union where you have:
1. been accepted into an academic or athletic program starting between August 2023 and March 2024
AND
2. have also been accepted/recruited to be a part of the university/college’s official collegiate sports team.
Both of these conditions will need to be satisfied and certified by supporting documentation in orderfor you to be eligible for the TOEFL iBT® Athletic Excellence Grant Program.
If I am selected, how do I access my funds?
Upon the selection of the recipients of the grant, the grantees will be asked to provide their own bank account information. The grant will be a one-time payment of 5,000 Euros to the grantees’ indicated bank accounts. Payments of the full grant amount will be made to the grantees within 28 days after ETS Global BV receives a copy of the signed Notice of Acceptance/Offer.
How will applications be assessed?
The TOEFL iBT® Athletic Excellence Grant Program includes a competitive application process. Eligibility does not guarantee success. All applications are assessed in a non-discriminatory, confidential, efficient and transparent manner. The selection process will be based upon a comparison of the merits of all candidates.
The assessment and selection procedure will consist of a three-step process.

Step 2: The motivation letters and the reference letters will be assessed. The motivation letter will be assessed among other on the following evaluation criteria:
a. What sport and which values does the applicant currently represent?
b. How will the grant contribute to the applicant’s development within a sporting pathway?
c. What are some previous achievements of the applicant’s that align with the values of thegrant program AND what are the goals that they wish to pursue upon the provision of thegrant?
Step 3: A maximum of fifteen (15) applicants will be selected and will be invited to an online interview.
Based on these three steps, the Selection Committee will select the five recipients of the grant.
Will I be notified if I am one of the five recipients of the grant?
The selected recipients of the grant will be notified via e-mail on June 30th, 2023. After the notification of the outcome, the grantees will receive a letter of acceptance/offer, which will be sent to their email addresses. In the event that you are selected to receive the grant, your name and/or photos will also be uploaded and announced at the official website of the Program and/or at ETS Global's official website and ETS Global's social media.
What will I need to do in case I am the recipient of the grant?
You will need to acknowledge ETS Global BV’s support through the provision of the grant from the TOEFL iBT® Athletic Excellence Grant Program.
The recipients of the grant are expected to take part the below specified promotional follow-up material. Your responsibilities after the provision of the grant include but are not limited to:
The grantees will be in contact and collaborate with the Program Committee appointed by ETS Global.
*The grantees and one additional person for each grantee will be covered for round-trip transportation from the grantees' country of residence to the Netherlands for the entire stay. This coverage only includes transportation and accommodation during the event's duration for the grantee and their companion. Any additional expenses incurred during the travel, such as meals, expenses related to internal transportation, such as taxi or public transportation within the Netherlands or in the grantee's country of residence or other incidental costs, will be the responsibility of the grantee and their companion.
